The flannel shirts are known for their softness, and by the high wear resistance. They are recognizable by their typical tartan pattern and intense colors and flashy. Precisely this mix of features has meant that the flannel shirt was associated only to the world of work, it was worn by factory workers because warm, durable and suitable, thanks to Scottish patterns, camouflage stains and abrasions. Today, however, the flannel shirt is no longer linked only to work, rather they are different from world famous designers who choose the famous paintings and tartan intense colors for their collections.
The flannel shirts thanks to the treatment of garzatura, to which they are subjected, are warm and soft. During this finishing the hair is raised, so that the latter retains the air and then to act as a thermal insulator. The twill weave, however, gives the fabric a good resistance. To get rather soft fabrics and fluffy, two other treatments are necessary, fulling and combing.
